The only reason why the miniscule amount of stores like Torrid that exclusively sell plus sizes even exists is because 90% of stores are exclusively for thin people. I went to a Target next to my university where the employee told me they “don’t have plus size clothing at this location.” I have to beg Target—TARGET!!!!!—to give a fuck about fat people enough to even offer their usual pitiful plus size section. Meanwhile, they had zero problem still selling thin people clothes at that store as well as weight loss scam shit and bathroom scales. Gee, I wonder why. /s
Torrid exists because I have no where else to shop. Thin people angry about Torrid and “plus size only stores” (which Torrid isn’t even plus size only, that’s why most of their models aren’t fat) is the fatphobia equivalent of straight people angry about gay marriage because “How dare gay people have more rights than straight people.” No, asshole. Gay marriage is giving gay people the same right you already have. Same with clothing access. You can’t get mad about the few “Fat people only” stores that exist because THE ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD IS THIN PEOPLE ONLY, NOT EVEN JUST CLOTHING STORES!

it really is insane to me how in the mid 2010s netflix had a reputation of making cool, inclusive series as well as saving tv shows after their networks cancelled them, and now here we are today with every halfway decent netflix original show getting cancelled after 1-2 seasons and a bajillion episodes of bigmouth
